How we started Read Our Story

God is Love

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

I am Bishop Patrick Baligasima, and by the grace of God, I serve as the leader, president, and founder of Discipleship Mission International. Established in 1984, our indigenous Christian organization is dedicated to evangelism, church planting, leadership training, and supporting the education and well-being of children across Uganda.

After working in Kampala as an engineer and foreman overseeing 1,000 mechanics at the former Uganda Transport Company Limited, I received a divine calling to leave the city and devote my life to ministry. Together with my beloved wife, Felister Baligasima, we answered this call and have been blessed to witness God's work through our efforts.

Recognizing the profound need for accessible education, we founded the Agape Children's Care Center in Magada. Initially, our own children lacked the means to attend school, but with faith and determination, we created a haven where not only our children but many others could receive quality education from kindergarten through primary and onto high school levels. Our mission is to guide these young souls until they are ready to pursue higher education and become impactful members of society.

However, the journey has been with a lot of challenges. One of our greatest needs is providing consistent and nutritious meals for the children. Feeding so many young ones is costly, and there are times when resources are scarce, and the children go hungry. Additionally, we face difficulties in meeting teachers' salaries, supplying educational materials, providing adequate bedding, shoes, school uniforms, and constructing proper classrooms and dormitories.

We humbly appeal to your generous hearts to help us nurture these children and fulfill God's purpose in their lives. Your support can come in various forms:

Feeding Programs: Assisting us in providing daily meals to ensure the children are healthy and ready to learn.
Sponsoring a Child: Supporting an individual child's education and basic needs, giving them hope for a brighter future.
Infrastructure Development: Contributing towards building classrooms, dormitories, and providing essential educational resources.
Volunteering: Joining us for short-term missions ranging from one week to a month to participate in evangelism, church planting, youth outreach, and conferences.
Supporting Widows and the Needy: Helping us establish income-generating projects like poultry farming, agriculture, or small businesses to empower widows and impoverished families towards self-reliance.

We believe in the transformative power of love and compassion. As it is written in James 1:27, "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress..." We are committed to rehabilitating lives and restoring spiritual well-being among those created in the image of God.
